IRO Export Group (IEG) top
The IRO Export Group comes together at the premises of one of the IEG members. In this group the companies exchange information on international business related subjects like projects, trade fairs etc. Sometimes guest speakers are invited to highlight a country.
The IRO Export Group (IEG) consists of companies which come together on a regular basis to exchange information about markets and projects. As the information is confidential, only companies that are not in competition with each other can participate. The group realises that sharing expertise and information, they achieve more together than each company by itself. Current and expected developments are discussed every meeting and often guest speakers are invited. As a result the participating companies not only get a good picture of the development in the oil and gas industry but also very specific information on useful contacts in the industry. Besides a source for the exchange of valuable information the IEG also creates a platform for mutual cooperation between the participating, often supplementary, companies.

IRO Gas Group (IGG) top
The Netherlands is a mayor gas-producing country with an annual production of approximately 70 billion m3. The total gas resources, the sum of the gas that has been produced to date, proven reserves and futures, amounts to approximately 4500 billion m3, of which 2600 m3 has already been produced.
The Netherlands plays an important role in the security of supply to the EU as more than half of the natural gas reserves in the EU are located in the Netherlands and the Dutch sector of the North Sea. 15 to 20 percent of the 450 billion m3 gas that is consumed annually in the EU is produced in the Netherlands. Over the years the Netherlands has developed a significant and high-quality oil and gas technology supply industry.
The purpose of the IRO Gas Group (IGG) is to see how the participating companies can capitalize on the Dutch fame as a gas technology country by organising concerted activities. An important function also, is to monitor and anticipate on the many new gas developments witch are taking place, like smart wells, LNG, long distance pipeline transportation and underground storage. Establishing project groups to pursue projects is an important objective of this working group.

IRO Offshore Wind Energy Group (IOWG) top
The IRO Offshore Wind energy Group (IOWG) was established in order to offer the offshore wind energy industry the technology and tools as developed and matured for the oil and gas industry as well as to offer its innovative capability to tune such technology and tools to new requirements. IOWG activities include export promotion, lobbying and development of innovative technology. Members of the IOWG are involved with the new developments with regard to alternative energy sources such as offshore wind farms, from design and engineering through installation, hook-up and commissioning.
The IOWG has three goals. The first goal is to promote the interest of the participants. The second is to assist the government to solve the existing problems in developing rules for an offshore wind energy industry and the third is to contribute to the further development of the offshore wind energy in The Netherlands. With regard to the development of innovative technologies in the field of offshore wind energy, cooperation has been established with We@Sea, a consortium of companies established to cooperate in R&D projects with regards to offshore wind energy making use of government funding facilities. The IOWG is member of the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) to enhance its network and activities on a European level.

IRO Safety and Training Group (ISTG) top
The IRO Safety & Training Group (ISTG) unifies all major Dutch training institutions in the oil and gas industry. The participants in this group meet several times per year to exchange information with regard to safety training requirements, both in The Netherlands and other countries around the North Sea. The Secretary Operations / Health & Safety of NOGEPA (Netherlands Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Association) also attends the ISTG meetings. Regular features discussed during the meetings include items such as:
- medical examination and fitness requirements of offshore personnel;
- first-aid training;
- personal safety logbook, hardcopy and/or smart cards;
- suggestions and comments for improvements to the various Training Handbooks;
- contribution of suggestions for harmonisation of the training courses in the U.K., Denmark, Norway and the Netherlands in order to achieve a uniform set of training requirements. This in turn would enable personnel to work in these countries without having to obtain training certificates for each individual country.
